How We Score and Rank GRC Vendors
What is the BusinessofGRC Score?
The BusinessofGRC Score is our proprietary 1–10 rating for GRC vendors. It combines quantitative data (reviews, customer count, funding, integrations) with qualitative editorial assessment. The result is a single number that reflects market position, product capability, and buyer readiness — all from independent sources.
How is the score calculated?
The score is a weighted average of six criteria. Each criterion is normalized to a 1–10 scale, then multiplied by its weight.
| Criterion | Weight | Description |
|---|---|---|
| G2 / Capterra rating | 20% | Aggregated user review score |
| Customer count | 20% | Disclosed or estimated customer base |
| Framework coverage | 15% | Number of compliance frameworks supported |
| Funding | 15% | Total funding or revenue proxy |
| Integration ecosystem | 15% | Native integrations and API availability |
| Editorial assessment | 15% | Qualitative evaluation by editorial team |
How does each criterion work?
Each criterion is scored on a 1–10 scale using defined bands. For example: G2 ratings map linearly (4.0 → 8, 4.5 → 9, 5.0 → 10); customer count uses logarithmic bands (1K → 6, 5K → 7, 10K → 8, 25K+ → 10); framework coverage scales by number of frameworks supported; funding uses tiered bands based on disclosed or estimated totals; integrations count native connectors and API availability; editorial assessment reflects qualitative evaluation of product fit, market position, and buyer suitability.
Example Calculation
A vendor with: G2 4.6 (9), 8,000 customers (8), 25 frameworks (8), $150M funding (9), 200 integrations (8), editorial 8.
Weighted score: (9×0.20) + (8×0.20) + (8×0.15) + (9×0.15) + (8×0.15) + (8×0.15) = 1.80 + 1.60 + 1.20 + 1.35 + 1.20 + 1.20 = 8.35
Can vendors influence their score?
No. Paid status (Featured, Category Sponsor, Report Sponsor) affects placement and visibility on our site, but it does not affect the BusinessofGRC Score. The scoring formula is applied uniformly to all vendors. Vendors cannot pay to improve their score.
